Coalville Car Club
Weekly Bulletin No: 148 - 31st
March 2009
Quinton Motor Club
are running the HORIBA d'Isis Rally on Saturday April 4th at MIRA.
Stuart Alexander is running at 41 in his Peugeot 205Gti 1600, and Max Hartley
and Alan Jackson are at 71 in their Mini. James Worth is again servicing, but
we don’t have any other details.
The Final Round of the 12 Car Series is our
own Novice Trophy Rally run by Chris
Faulkner on April 8th. This is our
traditional end of season bash, with a special award, the Novice Trophy, for
the best finishing novice crew. Full details will be on the 12 Car Page . The entry is now full, with
reserves; but Chris still needs more marshals, please help if you can. The
event starts and ends at The Odd House, Snarestone. The whole event is on Map
140. Please contact Chris if you can help.
We’ve had notice that there is a
proposal to merge the East Midlands and North East Midlands Associations.
Before the Club responds, we’d like any thoughts from Members. The Club
is a member of both Associations, so from a practical point of view it would
save about £25 per year in Fees.
After their outrageous success in 2008, Rolls-Royce Motor
Club - Derby would like to announce the opportunity for EMAMC member clubs to
present their teams of motor sport aficionados and anoraks to contest the
2009 EMAMC Interclub Quiz. The quiz will be held in the Executive Lounge at the
Rolls-Royce Leisure Association Pavilion, Moor Lane, Derby, DE24 9HY, on the
evening of 11th June 2009, at 7.30 p.m. Drinks will be available for
purchase from the bar during the course of the evening and a light buffet will
be provided.
If there is sufficient interest, we could put in a
Team. If you are interested, give Chris T. a call.
Chris and Alice Thorley are taking part on
the "National Drive it Day - Half Day Run" in Chris Faulkner’s Sierra
on 26th April, organised by Carlton &DMC
Rugby MC’s Chris
Valentine is proposing to run a multi
venue autotest, there will be some on tarmac and some on grass, the
tests will not be memory tests with little reversing, provisional date is Sat. July 4th, entry fees look to be
set very reasonable, let Chris know if you may be interested so he can
gauge the level of interest. christopher_valentine@goodyear.com
There were 2 CCC
Crews out on the DnR Challenge 12 Car on March 18th , Colin &
James finished 3rd, and Darren & Ben 5th. Chris F,
Tony Smith, Charlie Francis, John Brindley and Jamie McLean all marshaled.
After a 7 year
lay-off, Stuart Alexander entered his 3rd ever stage rally and finished 39th
overall from 70 starters and 9th in class in his Peugeot 205 1.6Gti on the AGBO
stages rally. Many Coalville members were involved in the original
preparation of the car back in 2002. Thanks to James Worth for the on
event service support. The next event is the Horiba D'Isis Stages
Rally at MIRA on April 4th.
