Mercia Summer Grass Autotests 2017


Mercia Motor Sports & Rugby Motor Club will organise 6 grass autotests at Buckwell Lodge Farm, Near Walcote, Leicestershire on Wednesday evenings. Provisional dates are May 17th ; May 31st ; June 14th ;  June 28th ; July 12th ; July 26th & August 9th . However due to weather some events may be cancelled or re-arranged.

The events start at approx 7pm and are finished before it goes dark around 9pm, we usually then retire to The Elms pub afterwards for a drink and chat.

Venue is arrowed off the A4304 near Walcote use postcode LE17 6JF to get to the nearest farm. Its only a couple of minutes from Junction 20 of the M1 and The Elms pub is at LE17 4HB right next to the motorway.

We run 2 attempts at 6 tests with the best attempt on each to count for results, the tests are fairly simple with approx half the test layouts being forward only.

Additional Supplementary Regulations

Mercia Motor Sports will organise a series of Clubmans status Autotests at Buckwell Lodge Farm, Near Walcote, Leicestershire.

  1. The Meetings will be held under the General Regulations of the Motor Sports Association Ltd (MSA) (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA) and these regulations in addition to any further written instructions that the club may issue for the purposes of the event.
  2. MSA Permit Nos. will be issed for each event.
  3. The events are open to all members of Mercia Motor Sports (Coalville CC, Coventry & Warwick MC, Jaguar Apprentices MC, Rugby MC & Warwickshire Drivers MC) plus invited clubs, Loughborough CC, Owen MC, Quinton MC, Redditch &DMC.

Entry Fee: 12 . All entrants must produce a valid club membership card.

5.       Entries The Minimum entry for the Meeting is 5

The Maximum entry for the Meeting is 50

6.       Classes

A. Front Wheel Drive cars - under 13ft overall length (3962 mm)

B. Front Wheel Drive cars - over 13ft overall length (3962 mm)

C. Rear Wheel Drive Cars

D 4 Wheel Drive Cars (with 8% handicap for overall results)

Overall Lengths as The Autocar Buyers Guide. Classes may be amalgamated if less than 4 entries

8.       General

Each driver will have 2 runs at each test layout, with the best time to count

Timing will be by hand held stopwatch

The onus of ensuring the correct time and penalty is recorded on the time card is with the competitor


Marking and Penalties will be in accordance with MSA Regulations:

Striking a cone or putting less than 2 wheels across an indicated stop astride = 10 Seconds

Incorrect Route = Fastest in class +30 Seconds

9.       General Regulations

The MSA Regulations apply as written except for amendments

Only STD road pattern tyres are allowed, (No M&S or Rally type to protect the venue).

Pylons may be less than 1 metre high

Vehicles need not be taxed for the road etc as the event is on private property

Only Vehicles registered as PLG (Private and Light Goods) will be permitted

Four wheels drive vehicles may be used, but with a 8% handicap

Results will aim to be published on the night of each event, but in any case as per D.26
